The Department of Chemistry, in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science is currently seeking to recruit staff to the position of
Postdoctoral researcher in chemistry, starting from January 1st 2018 or as soon as possible, for the period of one year.
We are looking for a Postdoctoral researcher for a project on optical patterning of graphene. The researcher will work in a multidisciplinary project focusing on laser-induced modification of graphene for device development. Nanoscience center and its laser laboratory provide excellent facilities and an inspiring and supportive atmosphere. The researcher is responsible for laser patterning and nonlinear imaging and spectroscopy of graphene.
The candidate should have a PhD in physical chemistry, chemical physics, or related area and have a strong background in laser spectroscopy or optics and experience with femtosecond lasers. Experience in Raman spectroscopy/microscopy, programming or AFM is considered as an additional advantage.
Qualification requirements, duties and language competence requirements for a Postdoctoral researcher are in accordance with the University of Jyväskylä Regulations. According to Finnish law, a non-native university teaching and research staff member can be granted an exemption from the requirement of Finnish language proficiency. The Postdoctoral researcher is expected to have good skills in English language.
The job-specific salary component of a Postdoctoral researcher is based on the job demands level 5-6 (EUR 2865,30 – 3340,77 / month) according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component amounting to the maximum of 46.3% of the job-specific salary component is also paid.
A trial period of four months will be used when the position is first filled.
