Faculty of Information Technology is currently seeking to recruit staff for the permanent position of Senior Researcher as of 1.8.2019 or as agreed.
The Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä is the first and largest in its field in Finland. The IT Faculty’s mission is to take on the challenges in research and education brought on by the developing information technology and digitalization. In research, education and stakeholder collaboration, the Faculty combines comprehensively the viewpoints of technology, information, organisations, business and people. The IT Faculty employs 220 people and, currently, there are 2400 undergraduate students and 150 postgraduate students. Teaching is given both in Finnish and in English.
Senior Researcher`s task will include research in cognitive science within the context of information technology (information systems science and/or educational technology). Senior Researcher will also teach and supervise students in this area according to faculty`s curriculum. The emphasis in the duties is in research and related other tasks.

Senior Researcher of cognitive science is expected to have broad knowledge of research and teaching that integrates cognitive science with information technology (information systems science and/or education technology). Senior Researcher is also expected to participate in postgraduate education. Previous involvement in high level, multidisciplinary research and applying for research funding, as well as international cooperation, is considered as an advantage for the candidate. Furthermore, the preparedness to act in positions of responsibility in the field with in the faculty is considered as advantageous.
The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of Senior Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines The selected person is required to have a command of Finnish language. In certain cases, the University may grant exemption from this requirement. A good command of English language and an ability to teach in English are regarded as advantageous for the applicant.
The job-specific salary component of a Senior Researcher is based on the job demands level 5-7 (EUR 2903,61–3903,56/month) according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component amounting to 6-50 % of the job-specific salary component is also paid.
