Department of Language and Communication Studies is currently is currently seeking to recruit
a Post-doctoral Researcher starting August 1st 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter for a fixed-term period of 24 months.
The advertised position is linked to the research project What’s in the App? Digitally-mediated Communication within Contemporary Multilingual Families across Time and Space (WhatsInApp) financed by the Academy of Finland 2018-2022. The project explores digitally mediated, multimodal and multilingual communication within contemporary families and examines how the technology affordances contribute to construct new, mobile and multilingual identities and kinships.
The candidate will carry out ethnographic fieldwork in Finland-Swedish multilingual families. The candidate is expected to conduct high quality research, publish in international refereed scientific journals, and be active in international research networks. A PhD degree in language studies (or in related areas) is a requirement. Experience of research in the area of the project as well as good communication skills in Swedish are considered as an asset.
The duties, qualification requirements and language skills for the position of the Postdoctoral Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines.
The Postdoctoral Researcher’s job-specific salary component is based on the job demands level 5-6 (2.935,55 €/month – 3.423,25 €/month) according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component amounting to 6-50 % of the job-specific salary component is also paid.
Trial period of six months is applied to the filling the position.
