The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Theoretical Quantum Photonics on the Joensuu Campus. The position will be filled from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2025. Please find more information below and submit your application no later than 15 March 2023. Application period has been extended until 15 May 2023.
Role and salary
We are seeking for a highly motivated and ambitious Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct theoretical research in our recently established quantum photonics group. As our new researcher, you will be working at the Department of Physics and Mathematics in the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology.
As our new Postdoctoral Researcher, your main responsibilities will include:
Quantum photonics, the science and technology of quantized light, is a multidisciplinary research field involving extraordinary physical phenomena such as quantum superpositions, entanglement, teleportation, and tunneling. Disruptive quantum optical technologies are anticipated to have transformational impacts on communication, imaging, metrology, and sensing with capabilities that far exceed the boundaries set by classical physics. At UEF the quantum photonics research encompasses theoretical foundations of the geometric phase in quantized light fields, quantum complementarity in vector-light interferometry, three-dimensional quantum polarization states, and structured quantum light in nanoscale interactions. The research involves close collaboration with other international institutions, and it is part of the Photonics Research and Innovation (PREIN) flagship of the Academy of Finland.
The position will be filled for a fixed term, from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2025, due to it pertaining to a specific project. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.
